Unit 1

Unit 1 is mostly a "catch up" of knowledge that, hopefully, you already know. 

We'll do the fill-in-the-blanks together - but if you missed that, its not that hard. 

Some of these terms will come up on the exam - so you should know them.  Most importantly, these terms are needed to understand the analylsis of the music throughout this course.  And you will need to use these terms in your answers and essays.

Seating plan for an orchestra

I don't think this adequately shows the fact that there are many more string instruments than everything else.  On average there may be only two, or three, french horns; usually there is 15 to 30 violins.

Don't take the spaces as an accurate depiction of the space that section takes up on stage.
