The last word...

Well...our course is done.
What an incredible amount of music we have heard.

Unfortunately, we don't really get to spend much time on music that speaks - music that has something incredible to say.

I thought long and hard to pick what would be the last piece for this year's class:  Charles Ives was an American composer, who had no fame as a composer during his own lifetime....in fact, he was an insurance executive (he developed the idea of "estate-planning").  He stopped composing quite young...and it was only after his death that his music suceeded.

Take time out of the day, and listen.  Do nothing else, but listen.
